SE TEXAS R.A.I.N. Gauge Maintenance

Our Assistant General Manager, Douglas Manning, recently joined Lamar University for routine maintenance on one of our vital Southeast Texas rain gauge sites. Lamar’s “Southeast Texas Flood Coordination Study” ensures the continued accuracy of data collected for the Southeast Texas Regional Alerting & Information Network, or SE TEXAS R.A.I.N.

SE TEXAS R.A.I.N. is a network of strategically located automated rain gauges across Southeast Texas. This crucial initiative provides real-time rainfall data, which is essential for effective flood monitoring, accurate weather forecasting, and informed decision-making for various community planning efforts in Texas. The Southeast Texas rain gauge network is a cornerstone of regional preparedness.

During their visit, they performed essential checks and upkeep on the sensitive equipment, guaranteeing its ongoing reliability. These regular rain gauge maintenance operations are fundamental to the seamless operation of the network, providing the dependable information that Southeast Texas communities rely on for safety and preparedness. It’s all part of our unwavering commitment to keeping our region informed and resilient in the face of weather events.
